BRING SOME SNACKS AND JOIN US ON THE LAWN
The "club with no books" book club is a chance to discuss themes common to literature without the stress of meeting a reading deadline. Maybe you want to join in on the discussion, but you don't have time read the book. Maybe you have already read the book and want to revisit it without a full rereading. Whatever the case, you are welcomed!
For the month of June we'll be discussing the topic of BEAUTY OR WHATEVER through the lens of the following titles:
Hair Story: Untangling the Roots of Black Hair in America by Ayana D. Byrd and Lori L. Tharps
The Color Complex: The Politics of Skin Color in a New Millennium by Kathy Russell, Midge Wilson, and Ronald Hall
Remember, you don't have to read the books to participate. I will give an overview to each book and facilitate the discussion so everyone feels welcome. Bring a friend!
*Note* This meetup is OUTSIDE and in a shaded grassy area. It is suggested you bring a blanket or lawn chair, and food/beverage.
