Ola Ronke and The Free Black Women’s Library
The Free Black Women’s Library is an interactive traveling biblio-installation that features a collection of over 900 books written by Black women, as well as films, performance, reading, workshops and conversations. This mobile library pops up monthly, and mainly in Brooklyn but has also been installed in Harlem, and various cities through out the country such as Chicago, Baltimore, Philadelphia and Detroit. The mission of this social art project is to illuminate the incredible and expansive nature of Black women, magnify our voices, and provide access to our diverse words and stories. At the library we find liberation, healing, joy, pleasure and community in our gathering and use books written by Black women as the foundation.
The Historic Thomas House
We're turning the town's oldest building into Historic Eatonville's first bookstore. We have immense support behind us and we are thankful every day for this opportunity. We have already began to take steps into our journey of renovations and restoration and you can follow that journey through blog and newsletter updates.
