Building Community outside of the web

I started attending events the same year I launched my blog. I was living in Los Angeles and looking to pad my posts. Little did I know, the events would become a way reconnect with the arts community and inspire me to give back in the best ways I could. The limitations I held in LA have started to fade here in my hometown, so please, come and join me and other in some upcoming Black & Bookish events.

The Club With No Books

3rd Saturday of the month

The name is sort of a misnomer- of course there are books. There is usually more than one book! This book club meets and discusses themes common to a collection of books chosen in advance. I know that many people want the chance to discuss literature and literary themes, but just don't have the time to commit to one more book. So how will you have time to read more than one?

YOU DON'T. The Club With No Books doesn't require participants to have read the texts before hand. Excepts and book summaries are provided. We have a lively discussion connecting real life experiences to the theme of the month.

National Novel Writing Month

NaNoWriMo (as it's most commonly known) is a month long commitment to a writing project. Held during the months of April, July, and November. I like to plan breakfast kick-offs and regular writing meet-ups during these months.
